2016 Summer LYBA Baseball- Non All-Star Developmental League

Intro to Baseball
(Player in Intro during spring K and under during previous school year)
This League will consist of current Intro to Baseball participants, Kids finishing Kindergarten and younger, but have played in LYBA before and are at least 5. The goal of this league will be to introduce and work on developing skills to bring the player to a higher playing level. We will only be using “soft” hard balls, no tennis balls. This is a coach pitch league with no tees to hit from. As always safety is our first concern followed by fun as our top goal. Children will learn field positions and some basic rules of the game. If you feel that your child is not ready to safely use a “soft” baseball and play in a pitching league then you may want to wait another year. Please talk with their coaches now for any questions or concerns.$25

Rookie
(Player in Rookie during spring, Grade 1 and 2 during previous school year)
This league will consist of first and second year Rookie. Kids finishing first and second grade who are playing at Rookie level now. The goal of this league is to develop players already in Rookie moving up to minors. This league will be using regular baseballs and will consist of children playing both the catcher and pitching position. As always safety will be our first concern followed by fun and gaining interest in the game. $35

10U
(Player in Minor during spring, Grade 3 and 4 during previous school year)
This league will consist of first and second year Minor League Players. Kids finishing third and fourth grade who are playing at Minor level now. The goal of this league is to develop players already in the Minor League. This league will be using regular baseballs and will consist of children playing both the catcher and pitching position. As always safety will be our first concern followed by fun and gaining interest in the game. $50

12U
(Player in Minor during spring, Grade 5 and 6 during previous school year)
This league will consist of first and second year Major League Players. Kids finishing fifth and sixth grade who are playing at Major level now. The goal of this league is to develop players already in the Major League. This league will be using regular baseballs and will consist of children playing both the catcher and pitching position. As always safety will be our first concern followed by fun and gaining interest in the game.
This League has not been set up. We cannot commit to this league unless we get enough Players and coaches. Please let me know if interested.$50

 Jr. Babe Ruth
Age 13-16
As part of the Connecticut Valley League, LYBA is now running the Jr. Babe Ruth Baseball team instead of The Lebanon Recreation Department. We will still be using Eldridge field near the CCBA. This year we are going to hold try-outs and will hope to field 2 teams, and A and a B team to play in our regular season (14 games) and tournament play. As such these teams are skilled based, and players will be assigned to positions, and will play accordingly. We will have tryouts at the end of May/Beginning of June TBD. Games will be played starting the week of June 13, and finish with a tournament in Claremont the weekend of July 29. Registration this year is $100. LYBA will provide the Uniform. We will have some more information as it becomes available on our web site:

We are also in need of coaches, you can sign up on the same registration web site, but please let me know if you are willing to help us this year.
$100

Coaches
As always we cannot have any league with out help from volunteers. We will need volunteers to help coach both levels. As this league will be taking place of many families vacations we will need to be a bit heavy on coaches in order to insure that we have enough help to manage every night. The only experience that is required is a commitment to having fun and keeping a safe environment for our players. There is a lot of literature around and plenty of experience from other coaches to get everyone started. Please do not let your lack of playing in the big leagues keep you from participating here.

Deadline for sign-up will be at the LYBA Picnic Sat. June 11.

Which league should I sign up for?

Intro to Baseball (Kindergarten or first year players).

This level is for kindergarten children and children with no baseball experience (first year). The goal is for the children to learn and practice basic baseball skills.

RookieThis level is for children in 1st & 2nd grade and will reinforce basic baseball skills and will include games with coach pitching.
Minors. The recommended guideline for this level is children in 3rd & 4th grade.
Majors. The recommended guideline for this level is children in 5th & 6th grade.

Concession Stand
Please note that it is an expectation that parents registering a player(s) in either Major or Minor League levels will share responsibility for staffing the concession stands.

Fundraising
Also all players/families will be expected to participate in two fundraisers during the season unless the “opt-out” option is chosen. The “opt-out” donation is in lieu of participation in the two fundraisers, it does not however absolve participation in the concession stand for Major and Minor League families. The concession and fundraisers are utilized to minimize increases in registration fees from year to year.

If you have any questions regarding the registration process, or the skills assessments please contact us at registration@lebanonyouthbaseball.com.
